Port Moody’s Loren Lidin is proving once again she is one of the top college keepers in the country.
After helping the Langara Falcons women’s soccer team win provincial and national championship titles last season, the Gleneagle secondary school graduate has back-stopped the Falcons to four straight league wins this season, surrendering only one goal in the process.
Lidin leads all keepers in the B.C. Colleges’ Athletic Association (BCCAA) with 0.33 goals against average and two shutouts.
“Loren has taken her game to the next level and I would consider her to be one of the best goalies in Canada, at either the CIS or CCAA level,” said her coach Ryan Birt. “Coaches put a tremendous amount of trust in all of there players. However, they place even more trust in their goalies as they are the last line of defence.
“At this point in Loren’s career, there is no other goalie that I would trust more with that responsibility than her.”
Lidin and the Langara squad have their sights set on competing once again for the highest prize in college sport and are currently ranked No. 1 in the country.
The Falcons will play host to Vancouver Island University and Quest University Canada this coming weekend.
The Langara college women’s soccer team has won three of the last four provincial and national championships and have established itself as one of the premier soccer programs in Canada.
