The Pen High Lakers golf team didn’t disappoint during the Okanagan Valley 3A South Zones.

Playing at Fairview Mountain Golf Course in Osoyoos Wednesday, Cam Davie led the Lakers scoring 76. Heming Sola and Declan Riddle were two shots behind at 78, while Jordell Afonso carded 85. Jackson Coates rounded out the group with a score of 90. Next up is the Okanagan Valley championship at Kelowna’s Gallagher’s Canyon Golf & Country Club on May 16.

“Our boys played pretty well,” said Lakers coach Rob Gunning. “If we can shoot those same scores Tuesday at Gallagher’s, we should do well. For the most part, they have had a pretty consistent year, so I hope things will go well.”

Coates, Riddle and Davie are playing in a junior tour event at Gallagher’s on Sunday and Gunning said that will work nicely as a practice round for them.

“We will need all the boys to play well in order to qualify for provincials,” said Gunning. “We need to be first or second. We won the valley last year and would like to repeat, but it will be a challenge. We are playing a tough course and I am sure there will be quality teams there.”
