The Brookswood Bobcats are guaranteed to play for a medal, but the shade of that medal is yet to be determined.

The ’Cats won 79-55 over the Claremont Spartans on Wednesday morning and followed that up with a 76-56 win over the Kelowna Owls on Thursday afternoon to advance to the semifinals of the BC 3A senior girls provincial basketball championships.

The tournament is being held at the Langley Events Centre.

Up next for Brookswood is a showdown with the Abbotsford Panthers in Friday's semifinal round. The two teams met in the Fraser Valley final last month with the Panthers winning 72-61.

Abbotsford is seeded second for the provincials and Brookswood is ranked third.

The Walnut Grove Gators are also competing at provincials but were knocked out of championship contention in the quarter-finals.

The fourth-seed Gators lost 85-70 to the No. Panorama Ridge Thunder on Thursday afternoon. Walnut Grove had opened the tournament with a 91-62 win over No. 13 Dover Bay the day before.

Seeded fourth, Walnut Grove defeated No. 13 Dover Bay 91-62 on Wednesday.

Brookswood will face either Panorama Ridge or No. 8 Lord Tweedsmuir on Saturday in either the gold-medal game (6:30 p.m.) or the bronze-medal game (1 p.m.).

Walnut Grove can finish anywhere from fifth to eighth.
