Campbell River to host mini world cup

Campbell River will have the honour of playing host to next year’s Mini World Cup.

Every year since 2001, the Upper Island Soccer Association (UISA) has sponsored the Upper Island Mini World Cup held under one of the district member clubs.

Host clubs are assigned on a rotational basis.

In 2017, Campbell River Youth Soccer Association (CRYSA).

will be responsible for hosting according to the BCSA rules, regulations and district guidelines.

The event is a fun tournament open to U8-U11 boys and girls, playing six-versus-six mini-soccer rules.

The Mini World Cup will be held May 13 and 14. Teams will be playing a limited amount of four games in the period of two days on the turf field.

The CRYSA clubhouse is the tournament headquarters that will be open four to five minutes before kick off for the first games on the Saturday.

The referees, meanwhile, are in development and will be using this for an opportunity to learn.
