Chilliwack Bruins battle bantam's best in International Challenge Cup

Ryan Walter and Angus Reid will help cap off a weekend of hockey action when they speak at the conclusion of the 31st annual International Challenge Cup bantam AAA tournament.
Walter, a veteran of 1,116 National Hockey League games, and Reid, a veteran of 14 Canadian Football League seasons, highlight Sunday night’s Tournament Awards Gala.
Reid takes the stage at the Chilliwack Arts Centre Theatre at 7 p.m. followed by Walter at 7:35 p.m.
Chilliwack Minor Hockey hosts the banquet and four days of wall-to-wall hockey (Friday-Monday), rolling out the welcome matt for 19 out-of-town teams.
The San Diego Jr. Gulls are travelling the farthest to be here.
The Rocky Mountain Roughriders are coming up from Colorado while the Sno-Kings Jr. Thunderbirds hop north from Washington State.
The Calgary Bisons, NWCAA Flames (Calgary), Edge School Mountaineers (Calgary) and Rocky Mountain Raiders (Okotoks) are coming from Alberta.
A strong BC contingent includes the Prince George Jr. Cougars, Kamloops Jr. Blazers, Okanagan Hockey Academy, Pursuit of Excellence, North Shore Winter Club, Yale Academy Lions, Delta Academy Wild, Juan de Fuca Grizzlies and Ridge Meadows Rustlers.

The hometown Chilliwack Bruins play a pair of round robin games Friday.

They face Kamloops with a 7:45 a.m. puck drop at Prospera Centre and take on the Mountaineers at 3:15 p.m. at Twin Rinks.

They play the Roughriders Saturday morning, 11:15 a.m. at Twin Rinks.

The ‘AAA division’ championship game will be played at Monday Prospera Centre (10:30 a.m.) followed by the ‘elite division’ game at 1 p.m.
