New Lacrosse Hall of Fame opens next month

Next month’s opening of the Anvil Centre will also mark the opening of the new Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame there.

The centre will officially open Sept. 14, and that’s when the hall will take up residence there. It has been squeezed into a room in a corner of the Centennial Community Centre next to the Canada Games Pool.

“It’s a new lease on life for us and it just happens to coincide with our 50th anniversary,” said hall chair Tony Glavin. “We believe that our new central location and greater ability to properly present players, championship teams, and most exciting moments in Canadian lacrosse will make us a ‘must-see’ destination for anyone that loves the game.”

Opening the Anvil will also mean the Hall will be able to hold its annual induction banquet in its conference centre Nov. 8. Included in the inductees are former New Westminster Salmonbellies players Andy Ogilvie and Reo Jerome.
