Shamrocks have Salmonbellies on the hook

The New Westminster Salmonbellies are a loss away from Western Lacrosse Association playoff elimination.

Shamrock logoThe Victoria Shamrocks took a 3-0 lead in their best-of-seven semifinal series by downing the visiting ’Bellies 11-8 Sunday.

It came on the heels of New Westminster’s devastating defeat at Queen’s Park Arena on Friday. Victoria scored four goals in the final 62 seconds for a 13-12 win in Game 2. The winner came with three seconds left in regulation.

Salmonbellie logoIn that game, junior callups Josh Byrne and Nathan Stewart combined for nine points. Byrne had four goals and an assist while Stewart had a goal and three helpers. Logan Schuss had three goals and three asists while Jordan McBride pumped in two goals and three assists.

In Victoria on Sunday, Keegan Bal led the ’Bellies with three goals and an assist.

Game 4 is at Queen’s Park tonight (Wednesday), 7:45 p.m.
