Colwood golfer tops among area golfers at B.C. Amateur

A final round 71 pulled Kevin Carrigan of Royal Colwood Golf Club into a tie for seventh at the B.C. Amateur Men’s Championship in North Vancouver.

Carrigan’s even-par outing Friday at the Seymour Golf and Country Cub was an improvement over his previous two rounds (75, 73), but was one stroke off his best of 70 in the first round, after which he sat tied for third.

His 289 total left him five shots back of co-leaders Jordan Lu of Vancouver’s Marine Drive and Michael Belle of the Vancouver Golf Club. Lu won the title in a five-hole playoff against Belle.

Carrigan carded four birdies on the front nine, along with three bogies, then played the back nine in 1-over, his only blemish a bogey on the par-4 16th hole.
