Ambush capture B.C. soccer gold
The Aldergrove U17 Ambush won gold at the B.C. Provincial B Cup Championships, which took place in Chilliwack, July 3-6.
There were 48 teams representing their zones from all over the province in six age groups, U13 to U18, and it is a great accomplishment in itself qualifying for the Provincials.
All of the Ambush's games were very exciting, showing great displays of skill, energy, athleticism and enthusiasm.
The scores were Ambush 1 vs. Coastal FC Royals 1; Ambush 2 vs. Nelson Selects 1; and Ambush 1 vs. Vernon United 0.
This outcome advanced the Ambush to the finals against Prospect Lake Lakers. The game was evenly matched, with a score of 3-3 at the end of regulation time. Overtime play was very intense but did not decide a winner. However, the Ambush's dreams of victory finally became a reality as the last shoot out goal flew past the Prospect Lake goalie.
The team's success was due to great team work and the outstanding efforts of Navdeep Rai, Charndeep Chattu, Tarndeep Chattu, Janelle Stephens, Laura McNeil, Kristiana Kamagianis, Taylor Andresen, Shireen Kaur, Kelsey Olsen, Amaneet Ark, Jade Hik, Valerie Mensah-Wilson, Hanna Morris, Vanessa Mensah-Wilson, Julie McNeil, Hanna Gill, and Kailey Snow and Ravien Sidhu, who joined the Ambush for the Championship game.
A special thanks go to the many supporters to the Ambush: parents, family and friends, Aldergrove Youth Soccer Club, and especially the noisy fans ringing their cow bells and sounding their horns. Also appreciation goes out to the outstanding dedication from the coaching staff of Dave Stephens, Bob Singh, Kulwant Rai, Brian Hunter, and Bill Ede. Congratulations to all!
