Championship matchups set for Greater Victoria minor football

With the spring regular season in the books, Greater Victoria Minor Football teams are set to battle for the Gold and Silver cups in the pre-atom, atom and pee wee divisions.

The championship games happen this Saturday (June 21) and Sunday at Westhills Stadium in Langford.

Saturday's Silver Cup finals see the Nanaimo Bombers (2-5 in regular season) take on Cowichan Bulldogs (3-4) in pre-atom at 11 a.m., Westshore Warriors (3-5) versus Gordon Head Raiders (2-6) in the atom division starting at 1 p.m. and Westshore (2-6) against Cowichan (3-5) in a nine-man pee wee game at 3 p.m.

Gold Cup games Sunday start with Gordon Head (5-2) versus the Saanich Wolverines (6-1) at 11 a.m. followed by Saanich (7-1) against the Peninsula Wildcats (8-0) in the atom final at 1 p.m. The pee wee final between Peninsula (4-4) and Saanich (7-1) happens at 3 p.m.
