First-year swinging a success for Oak Bay golfer

In his first year with the University of Victoria Vikes golf team Connor Gann is proving he’s a leader.

The Oak Bay High grad led the Vikes men with a second-place finish at the Canadian University/College Championship in Manitoba last Friday.

“Connor hit it solid all week and played the par 5’s at 10 under par,” said Vikes interim head coach Justin Clews. “I think he felt confident at this course because the winds were up and he grew up playing in the wind at Victoria Golf Club. I am very pleased with the men’s fourth-place finish which betters our 10th place finish last year in Montreal. This is a great confidence boost heading into the summer break which hopefully carries over into next season.”

Fifth-year Vike Megan Woodland placed first for the ladies. The men and women’s teams finished in fourth and third, respectively.
