Shamrocks ready for Burrards

A 15-minute stretch in the second period proved to be the undoing of the New Westminster Salmonbellies Thursday.

The visiting Victoria Shamrocks scored five unanswered goals to start the second period en route to beating the ’Bellies 9-7 at Queen's Park Arena.

The Shamocks are home tonight, 7:45 p.m. versus the Maple Ridge Burrards at The Q Centre in Colwood.

Thursday's win solidified the Shamrocks' hold on first place with a 3-0-1 record.

Down 5-4 to start the second period, Victoria potted five straight goals, including shorthanded goals from Corey Small and Tyler Hass. Small, Hass and Rhys Duch each finished with two goals.

Shamrocks goalie Matt Flindell stopped 33 of 40 shots.
