Two skaters and the coach of the Aldergrove Skating Club were honoured with awards at the annual general meeting of the BC Coast Region on April 15.

Rachel Rollke won the Program Assistant Award for the region, which includes all clubs from Hope to Whistler. She was given this honour for her active participation in the club helping the younger skaters learn to skate. She is an asset to the club, sharing her love of skating by teaching the basics of skating.

The second recipient of an award that same evening was Chiemela Joy Anumba, for the Canskater of the Year. Chiemela is an energetic enthusiastic young lady of seven years age, who has a natural talent and love of skating and has progressed through the Learn to Skate program very quickly. It is that eagerness to learn and perfect all her moves that has led her to win this award for the region.

Also winning a surprise award was the coach of the Aldergrove Club, Colleen Laferriere. Colleen was surprised the evening of April 15 with winning the Volunteer of the Year award, for her help with regional events over the past season.

Congratulations to all the award winners on their accomplishments.
