Assistant captain Dallman off to Canadian university this fall
The West Kelowna Warriors have announced another player commitment as former assistant captain Tyson Dallman has found a place to play next season.
Dallman, 20, has committed to Brock University in St. Catharine’s, Ontario and will begin playing for the Brock Badgers at the start of the 2014-15 season.
“One of their scouts talked to me near the end of this season,” said Dallman, “then their head coach met me at home in Prince Albert after the season. I did have other options and took some time but I felt in the end Brock was the best for me.”
Dallman played just one season for the Warriors after playing two years with the Tri-City Americans of the WHL.
He tallied 22 goals, and 20 assists in 53 games for the Warriors, and added two assists in six playoff games.
Dallman said he’ll play the same role he had here with the Warriors.
“I’ll be used as a top-six utility forward who can play in all situations, and do whatever is asked of me," he said. "I’m definitely excited to get out there, and start the semester and hockey season I’ve heard it’s a beautiful part of the country so I’m eager to get out there and see it for myself.”
Dallman is the eighth Warriors player off the 2013-14 roster to secure a scholarship for the 2014-15 season. Over 50 Warriors players have advanced to further education through hockey.
As many as 40 former and current Warriors alumni will be back in West Kelowna May 31 to June 1 for the 2nd Annual West Kelowna Warriors Alumni Weekend including local product and Edmonton Oilers player Just Schultz.
The Warriors will hold an alumni hockey game on May 31 at Royal LePage Place before a golf tournament and dinner at Two Eagles Golf Course.
All proceeds for the event go to West Kelowna Minor Hockey, Kid Sport, Westside Community Food Bank and the Warriors Alumni Fund.
