BLRC back in B.C. finals

Burnaby Lake Rugby Club will be back to defend its provincial women's championship. Again.

The squad advance to their four consecutive B.C. final by downing United 32-15 at Burnaby Lake Sports Complex last Saturday.

Ciara Malone scored two tries for Burnaby with others coming from Carolyn McEwen, Nancy Radman, Laura Harmse and Emily Young.

“You have to give credit to our forwards,” said Burnaby Lake head coach Walt Brandl. “United’s strength is in their backs and they couldn’t get enough possession to make anything happen. Our girls were disciplined and we stuck to our game plan.”

BLRC will face the Velox Valkyries from Vancouver Island in the final at West Vancouver's Klahanie Park this Saturday at noon. Burnaby Lake will also be prominent in the men's finals. The Premier League men's squad will face James Bay for the provincial championship at 4 p.m., while the First Division squad will take on the University of Victoria Norsement at 2 p.m.
