Nasato notches seven in win over Timbermen

The New Westminster Salmonbellies headed into their home opener Tuesday night already having two road wins in their lacrosse bags thanks to Chris Nasato.

The New West native scored all five of the ’Bellies goals in the third period and then the first and last goals in overtime in a 15-11 victory over the Timbermen in Nanaimo on Saturday.

Nasato also added two assists earlier in the game. Connor Robinson also had a nine-point night with three goals and six assists. Jeremy Bosher scored two goals and picked up four assists while Kyle Pauwels had two of each and Wyatt Pinder got a goal and two assists.

The Salmonbellies opened the season by downing the Langley Thunder 8-2 at the Langley Events Centre on Thursday.

Bosher was the big point-producer on the night with two goals and four assists while Robinson had two of each. Mitch Stokes scored twice with singles going to Pauwels and Quinn Mackay. Nasato notched four assists.

A rematch with the Thunder was held at Queen’s Park Arena on Tuesday. The Salmonbellies will be in Victoria on Saturday with the Port Coquitlam Saints visiting QPA next Tuesday, 8 p.m.
