Gold, two silver for TWU's George

Trinity Western Spartans Nathan George picked up a gold and two silver medals over the weekend in California.

The Spartans track and field team was competing at a pair of meets: the Long Beach Invitational at Cerritos College and the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific University.

George, a second-year sprinter, won the 400m event at the latter meet and was second in the 200m. He was also second in the 300m at the Long Beach Invitational.

George won the 400m in a time of 47.99 at the Bryan Clay Invitational and took silver in the 200m with a time of 21.58.

At the Long Beach Invitational, he was second in the 400m with a time of 47.62.

He was one of six Spartans at the meets but the lone team member to find the podium.

Calum Innes was seventh in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.59.

Nathan Dunford was seventh in the pole vault, clearing 4.80m and then 10th in the same event at the second meet, this time clearing 4.58m.

Hazel Ross was fourth in the 100m hurdles at 14.13 at the first meet and fifth in the same event at the second meet with a time of 14.26.

And at the Mt. SAC Relays at Mt. San Antonio College, high jumper Emma Nuttall was fourth after clearing 1.80m and long jumper Sabrina Nettey was 10th with a leap of 6.01m.
