The Cowichan Stellers pulled through in a close Div. 3 Island Ladies’ Field Hockey Association playoff final, winning 2-1 against the Lynx III team.

The Stellers scored first when a defensive clearing attempt by the Lynx was gobbled up by Lynne Dayton, who broke into the clear and scored.

The Stellers had trouble containing a talent forward on the Lynx and she scored to tie the game.

The winning goal came from Olivia Burton, with the ball pushed over the line in a fashion reminiscent of a rugby scrum.

Goalie Robin Flemming had another great game for the Stellers, especially as the team hung on in the last 10 minutes.

Hannah Craig, Jill Dayton and Heather Wilke were all standouts on defence for the Stellers.
