Fourteen available players from the Cowichan Rugby Club’s women’s team travelled to Ridge Meadows Saturday and posted a 34-12 win.

“This was the team we were supposed to play three weeks ago when they cancelled it on us due to snow,’’ noted Cowichan captain Sherry Spence. “So we finally made it there with a team of forwards.’’

After a quick warm-up, it wasn’t long before Laura Russell crashed over the line for the first of her three tries. She also had a pair of converts.

Spence had two tries, including one when help from forwards driving a maul at the line allowed her to get the ball down. Carolyn Gudmundseth also scored a try.

Russell was Cowichan's player of the game for the backs and Jessica Wilton for the forwards.

Cowichan hopes to have a full roster for a home game against Kelowna Saturday.
