Hall rink three-peats

For the third year in a row, the Tom Hall foursome hoisted the Bill Heichert Memorial trophy as the Trail Retirees Curling Club champions.

Twelve teams play four sections, in each section lineups are shuffled to make 48 distinct teams.

The winner from each session meet in the semifinal, with the top two going to the final.

This year’s final came down to the Tom Hall team from the third section, and the Ernie Brown team from the fourth section.

The turning point of the game came in the second end, when team Hall took five.  Reeling but not out of it, team Brown then scored two, to make it a one-point game.  After a blank in the fourth, team Hall took three in the fifth.  Still not giving up, team Brown scored two in the sixth.  A great draw through a port by third Alvin Caron gave the Hall team an important three-point lead going into the last end.

Great rock placement by the Hall front end and a couple of hits ran the Brown side out of rocks.  In a well curled game by all ten curlers, it was the Hall team winning, 9–6.

All retirees are welcome to come out and join us next October.
