Ciel Arbour-Boehme

Ciel Arbour-Boehme is the centre of attention with the Brentwood College senior girls’ rugby team.

“This year, she’s playing the centre so she’ll get us going forward, hopefully often,’’ said Brentwood co-coach Marius Felix.

“She’s also a good complementary player so she’ll be able to create some space for our players inside and outside.’’

Now in Grade 11, Arbour-Boehme is already in her third season on the team, starting at inside centre.

“I began playing rugby about seven years ago at Velox in Victoria,’’ she said. “Since then, I’ve been playing almost every other day.

"It was something that I loved. I didn’t learn how to play it for the last five years. I just ran forward and passed backwards and I’ve loved it ever since just because it’s a family game.’’

Arbour-Boehme’s abilities caught the attention of provincial selectors and she’s made trips to the Las Vegas Sevens the last two years.

The B.C. squad was third last year and won the tournament this time.

“Playing in Vegas was an absolute accomplishment for me and the whole team,’’ said Arbour-Boehme. “Mr. Skene was our coach. Representing B.C. was a huge compliment.’’
