Tireless Juan de Fuca hockey volunteer remembered at tournament

A longtime and beloved volunteer with Juan de Fuca Minor Hockey and other local sports groups will be remembered this weekend during the fifth annual Debbie Cooper Memorial peewee and bantam house hockey tournament at The Q Centre, Juan de Fuca and Westhills arenas.

Cooper, known alternately as The Ice Queen and The Social Director for her tireless and integral work with minor hockey, passed away suddenly in 2009.

The games get underway tomorrow (March 14) and run through Sunday. More than two dozen house league teams are expected to take part.
