Vees break out brooms against Centennials

The Penticton Vees have swept the Merritt Centennials out of the BCHL playoffs.

The Vees completed the feat by defeating the Centennials 4-3 at the Nicola Valley Arena Saturday night.

The Centennials struck first in the game as James Neal bulged the twine behind Hunter Miska 8:58 into the first period. The only time the Vees led in the game was when Brett Beauvais buried the winner past Devin Kero with two minutes remaining in the match.

The Centennials had three different leads, each time tied up on goals by Steen Cooper, Brad McClure on the power-play and Jack Ramsey with 5:20 remaining in the third.

McClure setup Beauvais for the series-clinching goal in front of a crowd of 1,100.

Miska finished with 32 saves, while Kero stopped 23.
