Haley Dragicevich

Haley Dragicevich’s busy schedule of late is enough to make any figure skater’s head spin.

Dragicevich, 13, a Grade 7 student at Maple Bay Elementary School, just came off the Island regional competition at Kerry Park and went right into the Duncan Skating Club’s production of Alice’s Wonderland Saturday.

“I’m the Mad Hatter,’’ she said. “It’s always fun to spend time with your friends and make fun routines.’’

In April, Dragicevich will attend a B.C. and Yukon section seminar in Kelowna.

She passed her Junior Bronze freeskate recently and skates at the Star 5 13 and under level.

“She had her first taste of moving up into a category where she’s now allowed to do double jumps and her axels so she’s coming along fine,’’ said coach Lorraine Francisty.

“With her being invited to the provincial seminar, it’ll be a great encouragement for her training.’’

Dragicevich, who started with the skating club at the age of five, likes the combination of competitions and ice shows.

“I like the technical and spending time with my friends,’’ she said. “I’m going to just continue training and try my best.’’
