Vancouver Canucks unveil new opening video, starring anthem singer Jim Byrnes

The Vancouver Canucks have unveiled a new opening video – their second of the 2013/14 season – starring the voice of anthem signer Jim Byrnes. The video was first used on Wednesday, in Vancouver's first home game after the Olympic break, before a 1-0 win over the St. Louis Blues.

It replaces a video made by Rossland, B.C.'s Juice Studios (below), which was unveiled at the team's home opener in October. Like that video, the new intro features the themes of us against the world, weathering a storm, and We Are All Canucks.

"I got a call from the team and somebody decided that my voice might fit this project," said Byrnes, to Canucks TV on YouTube. "I sing anthems for them now and then, so they know that I can pull it off.

"When you do the anthems, to be right down on the ice there... the energy that you get is really, it's exciting, so I try to bring some of that feeling that I have just before you start singing the anthem when you're there and all that focus is there."
