An information evening for all players and parents interested in the 2014 Vancouver Island Soccer Academy Spring Soccer Programs being run by Shel Brodsgaard in the Comox Valley is being held this Sunday, Feb. 16.

The program is for youth soccer players from the ages of six to 16 years and will run for a total of 12 weeks, starting the first week of April and concluding the last week of June.

In an effort to bring together interested players, families and coaches we have arranged the following information meetings located at the Old House Resort and Spa in the Denman and Hornby Rooms:

Sunday, Feb. 16 – Old House Village Hotel & Spa, 1730 Riverside Lane (250-703-0202; www.oldhousevillage.com) – 5-6 p.m. players ages 6-12 and parents; 6:30-8 p.m. players 13-16 years and parents.

"The aim for these informational meetings is to review the academy model being created and address all concerns regarding CVUSC House and Rep soccer, defining and explaining the age groups, outlining the skill-based model for assessment of the players, as well as address the program content and goals," Brodsgaard explained.

The goal will be to form the following groups for the 2014 Spring Academy:

• Keeners-Lite: 2005 – 2006 born players

• Keeners: 2004 born players

• Player Development Program 2003-2002

• Player Development Program 2001-2000

• Player Development Program 1999-1996.
