Flames skid continues as Junior B playoffs loom

A loss to the Mission City Outlaws on Friday night was the latest in a late-season skid that the Ridge Meadows Flames will have to straighten out if they have any hope of playoff success.

There’s just two regular season games left before they start a best-of-seven playoff series with the Abbotsford Pilots.

Friday night on home ice, the Flames lost 3-2 to the Outlaws. It was their sixth straight loss.

Mission benefitted from a pair of power play goals in the second period, going two-for-seven with the man advantage. They took a 3-2 lead into the third, and held on despite being outshot by the Flames 13-6 in the last period.

Nicholas Coltura and Boston Colley both scored for the Flames

Wednesday they were defeated by the Kodiaks 4-3 in Aldergrove.

Danny Wilson scored twice in that game, Jordan Gracie once, and Travis Oddy had a pair of assists.

The losses drops their record to 16-21-3-2, but they are locked into third place in the Harold Brittain Conference, and will face an Abbotsford team that has gone 26-10-3-2.

And the Pilots have their number, having beaten them in all five previous contests, by scoring almost six goals per game on average.

A playoff preview can be had Friday night at Planet Ice when the Flames host the Pilots. Their last game of the year will be on the road Sunday against the Grandview Steelers.
