M.E.I. of Abbotsford defeated Langley Christian 46-31 Saturday in the championship game of the B.C. Christian Schools junior girls’ basketball tournament hosted by Duncan Christian School.

Games were played at DCS and the Island Savings Centre.

Taylor Cousins, the leading scorer for M.E.I. in the final with 14 points, was the tournament MVP.

The Lower Mainland squads occupied the first seven spots, with Pacific Academy of Surrey third, Credo Christian fourth, Surrey Christian fifth, Richmond Christian sixth and Unity Christian of Chilliwack seventh. Campbell River Christian was eighth, host DCS ninth and Gateway Academy of Comox 10th.

Team all-stars were: Ashley Huberts (M.E.I.), Hannah Krepp (Langley Christian), Gabby Attieh (Pacific Academy), Hannah Allison (Credo), Violet Bacon (Surrey Christian), Hanna Dy Ning (Richmond Christian), Anna-Marie Van Dyk (Unity), Mikayla Martens (Campbell River Christian), Rachelle Van Boven (DCS) and Kristianna Bouwers (Gateway).

DCS lost 34-17 to Campbell River and 38-8 to Surrey before beating Gateway 31-16 for ninth. Van Boven had 19 points in the Gateway win.
