Penticton Vees forward Nicolas Pierog is becoming a Golden Knight.

Pierog announced his commitment to the Clarkson University Golden Knights in Potsdam, N.Y. on Twitter last night.

"Thank you for everyone who supported me along the way," he wrote.

The Golden Knights, who have also committed to Ben Dalpe and Chris Rygus, started talking to Pierog last season. He said talk faded for a bit and escalated when he was traded to the Vees.

“Things happened pretty quickly. I’m happy about it,” he said. “It’s a great place, great atmosphere. I got a buddy (Pat Megannety) down there.”

Pierog also received positive comments from Dalpe and Rygus about the school. With some forwards and centres leaving after this season, Pierog felt there would be some opportunity.

“I thought it would be a good place for me,” said Pierog, who will visit the campus after the season. “I thought it would be a great fit for me to kind of jump in next year and help them win the championship.”
