Stephanie Mould

Stephanie Mould is made from the right mold to be a competitive wrestler.

The Grade 7 Queen of Angels School student has made rapid strides in the sport since taking it up.

“I started in the school team last year with Mr. Zuback and then at my first tournament I was confronted by one of the coaches to join the club and I did,’’ Mould said.

“She just goes, goes, goes — doesn’t stop, almost like the Energizer bunny, I think,’’ said Cowichan Valley Wrestling Club head coach Nick Zuback.

“She’s only in Grade 7. She wrestles more like a Grade 8, Grade 9 which is good to see. I think her opportunity to go far in the sport is very high.’’

Mould derives great enjoyment from the sport while she continues to develop her skills.

“I think I’m progressing good for my first year,’’ she said. “I have much more to learn.’’

A big part of the learning process has been experienced from her involvement in the CVWC’s camps.

The latest one happened Thursday and Friday at Queen of Angels.

“I went to this camp last year and I think it’s really fun,’’ said Mould.

And it’s always quite a workout. “It makes you sweat a lot,’’ she said.
