Abbotsford's top line dominates as Heat thump Barons
The Abbotsford Heat's top line ignited a blowout win on Friday over the Oklahoma City Barons.
Ben Street, Max Reinhart and Josh Jooris combined for nine points (including three goals) as the Heat crushed the Barons 5-1 at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre in their first game after the Christmas break.
Reinhart, with two goals and an assist, set a new career high for points in a game and picked up first star honours. Street notched four assists, while Jooris scored once and added a helper.
Ben Hanowski and Corban Knight also scored for Abbotsford, while C.J. Stretch got the lone OKC marker on the power play in the third period.
Heat goalie Joni Ortio made 32 saves en route to his 14th win of the season, tied for tops in the AHL with Drew MacIntyre of the Toronto Marlies. At the other end of the ice, Barons starter Richard Bachman got the hook in favour of Chet Pickard after allowing four goals on 18 shots in just over 32 minutes of play.
The Heat (22-9-2) and Barons (11-16-5) renew hostilities on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the AESC.
