NHL: Vancouver Canucks try to topple Kari Lehtonen, Stars in Dallas
That may be one way to describe the Vancouver Canucks right now, their winning streak snuffed at seven on Tuesday with a 3-2 shootout loss to Minnesota. So close, you always end up thinking after those flukey skills competitions decide a game you so badly need to win, but so far.
On Thursday, the Cancks will take on the Stars in Big D – Dallas – and their one-two duo of Tyler Seguin and Victoria, B.C.'s Jamie Benn.
Seguin has 33 points through 31 games this season, one point ahead of Daniel and Henrik Sedin and five ahead of his teammate Benn.
The Stars and Canucks have seen each other once this season, with Dallas taking it 2-1 at Rogers Arena, despite being outshot 43-23 by Vancouver.
"I think that was (during) a stretch where we were playing some good hockey but hadn't gotten the wins," said Canucks winger Chris Higgins, who has 21 points this season. "We want to get right backing winning tonight after the loss to Minnesota. I think we're excited to play tonight."
Roberto Luongo will get the start in goal tonight for Vancouver. The Canucks also said on Thursday that defenceman Ryan Stanton will be out for "weeks" after sustaining an injury crashing into the back boards against the Wild.
