Football players off to Texas

Five Abbotsford high school football players have been named to B.C.’s under-18 football team for the Football University (FBU) International Showcase in San Antonio, Tex.

The tournament is in conjunction with U.S. Army All-American Bowl Week, and Team B.C. will play Texas East on Jan. 1 and Team Europe on Jan. 4.

A trio of W.J. Mouat Hawks – linebacker Clovis Lumeka, defensive lineman Levi Hua and defensive back Jake Firlotte – are on the B.C. squad, as are Rick Hansen Hurricanes linebacker Brandon Ho and receiver Zach Toews.

Additionally, running back Ben Cummings of the Robert Bateman Timberwolves has been selected for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl combine, which brings together top players to test their physical abilities in front of scouts.
