NHL: Vancouver Canucks rise to 5th in ESPN, TSN Power Rankings
Every Monday, the minds at their laptops in Bristol, Connecticut and Toronto come up with their own power rankings for the NHL, at ESPN and TSN.
(Sportsnet does their own, too, but they don't publish until Wednesday. So, whatever.)
And right now, after seven straight wins and one emphatic offensive thumping of the Boston Bruins, the Vancouver Canucks are climbing in both – they ranked 5th in TSN's most recent power rankings, up from 9th the week before, and 5th in ESPN's, up from 8th the week before.
December has been kind to the Canucks and, in turn, that ESPN-TSN partnership is being kind to Vancouver, as well.
Not that Power Rankings matter to anyone outside the writers that make 'em. But, as of this moment, the hockey world respects the Canucks. And that's all we've been asking, isn't it?
December has been good for the Canucks, who are 7-0 this month, allowing a total of eight goals in those seven victories. For his part, G Roberto Luongo has a 1.19 GAA, .962 SV% in the last five games.
OK, if not the Kings, you can certainly make a case for the Vancouver Canucks as the league's hottest team, winning their seventh in a row in emphatic fashion over visiting Boston on Saturday.
