The National Soccer Coaches Association of America has announced the 2013 NSCAA/Continental Tire All-West Region team and a Maple Ridge player was among three Simon Fraser University men’s soccer stars to earn spots, all on the first team.

Alex Rowley of Maple Ridge and teammates Chris Bargholz (Fuessen, Germany) and Magnus Kristensen (Stavenger, Norway) made the squad.

The trio led the Clan to the “Final Four” in the NCAA Championship tournament that saw Simon Fraser bow out to the Carson Newman Eagles with a 3-2 loss in the semi-finals in Evans, GA last Thursday.

SFU clinched their second straight NCAA West Region Championship and fourth consecutive Great Northwest Athletic Conference crown during the 2013 season.

Rowley appeared in 22 games for the Clan in 2013, starting 20 of them and recording two goals and seven assists while earning a spot on the first team of conference all-stars.
