Marauders beat B.C.’s top team

The provincial basketball rankings will need to be rewritten, after the Pitt Meadows Marauders upset the top-ranked W.J. Mouat Hawks of Abbotsford on Tuesday night.

The Pitt defence gave nothing away, as they beat the number one team on the new quadruple A circuit by a score of 66-59.

Pitt’s big man Graham Smith got the first triple double in two decades, as he put up 11 points, 11  assists and 20 rebounds.

Generally Smith pumps in points, but on this occasion he was hitting the boards and dishing passes, to accomplish the rare and impressive statistical feat.

Mark Ashamalla and Enzo Tadeo were on the receiving end of those passes, and they put up 12 points and 11 points respectively.

Next game for the Marauders is the North Shore Tourney this weekend. They will not play another home game until they face St. Thomas Aquinas on Jan. 4.
