Football players suit up for Team B.C.

Eight Abbotsford football players were selected for B.C. provincial teams which participated in the FBU National Championship, a series of prestigious youth football tournaments in the United States.

The event features 64-team tourney brackets in the Grade 6, 7 and 8 age groups, and B.C. entered a squad in each competition.

Local content included Terrel Jones on the Grade 6 team, Trey Jones, Zach Langfield and Luke Szmutko on the Grade 7 squad, and Ezra Garcia-Landa, Tyson Reid, Sahil Sahota and Samwel Uko on the Grade 8 team.

None of the three provincial teams survived the first weekend of play – the Grade 6 and 7 squads both fell in the second round, while the Grade 8 team lost in the first round.
