Kootenay Savings Super League Curling: Brost Autoworx rolls over Maglio Ladies

The Kootenay Savings Super League’s Desiree Borsato and her Brost Autoworx team were firing on all cylinders against Maglio Ladies, skipped by Heather Nichol, at the Trail Curling Club Thursday.

After Brost opened with a deuce in the first, they stole the next three ends, including a five-ender in the fourth that Maglio Ladies couldn’t recover from, shaking hands after six in a lopsided loss.

Maglio Mens were in tough against league leaders Rellish Transport, with skip Russ Beauchamp making some nice raises early to hold a 2-1 lead after four. But skip Deane Horning was undeterred, manufacturing a three in the fifth, then stealing the eighth and ninth for a 9-4 win.

Team Nichol and Team Fines had a great game except for the first end, as Fines rubbed guards on consecutive shots to give up a big four. It was mostly singles after that, with Fines stealing a couple of ends, but couldn’t make up the early deficit, and were run out of rocks in the 10th, for an 8-6 Nichol win.

Team Albo and Team Ferguson had a back and forth affair. The teams traded singles, before Ferguson scored a three in the third end. Albo was forced to a single, then stole a three of his own to take a 5-4 lead after five. Skip Rob Ferguson made a (routine for him) cross ice double for another three, then sealed the game with a four-ender in the eighth, on the way to an 11-7 win.
