J. L. Crowe basketball: Sr. Girls’ team holds annual tournament

The J. L. Crowe Hawks basketball season is in full swing as the senior boys held their opening tournament last weekend and the senior girls hit the hard court for their opening tournament this Friday and Saturday.

The senior boys Hawks opened their tournament on a winning note, downing Mt. Sentinel before dropping their next tilt, 53-35, to L. V. Rogers of Nelson. The powerhouse on the weekend was the Vernon team that went undefeated through the tournament, beating Nelson in the final 80-55.

The Senior girls team, meanwhile, tips off Friday with its first game of the season.

Five teams will play in the annual Crowe Invitational Sr. Girls Basketball Tournament including Pen-Hi from Penticton, Bonners Ferry out of Idaho, Creston’s Prince Charles Secondary (PCSS), and L.V. Rogers.

The Hawks open against  L.V.R at 10:15 a.m. Friday followed by a 1:45 match versus Bonners Ferry.

They’re up bright and early for a match against PCSS Saturday morning at 8:45 a.m., hopefully for a chance to play in the tournament final at 1:45 p.m.
