John Morris of Vernon-Kelowna made a huge comeback before falling 9-6 to Brad Jacobs of Sault Ste. Marie at the Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings at the MTS Centre Wednesday afternoon in Winnipeg.

Morris, who has Vernon’s Jim Cotter throwing fourth rocks and a front end of Tyrel Griffith and Rick Sawatsky, was down 6-2 after five ends before scoring a deuce in the seventh end and swiping two in the eighth to level the score.

Morris dipped to 3-2, while Jacob joined Kevin Martin of Edmonton at 5-0 atop the Olympic curling trials. Martin defeated Toronto’s John Epping 9-5 in the same draw.

Morris takes on Epping Thursday night and finishes reound-robin play this morning against Martin. The preliminary winners advance to the Sunday finals, while the second- and third-place teams meet in Saturday’s semifinal.
