VIDEO: Vancouver Canucks pepper Washington, win 3-2 with Daniel, Kesler goals
The Vancouver Canucks were all over their own ice on Monday night, peppering Capitals goaltender Michael Neuvirth – who was stellar in defeat – with 41 shots while only surrendering 19. The Sedins and Kesler continued to click along at other-worldly pace, with Daniel accounting for an assist and the winning goal, the result of a spectacular session of 5-on-5 that kept Washington's top line of Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom hemmed in behind their own blue.
And yet, the Canucks just eeked out a win, their fourth straight, 3-2 over the visiting Caps.
With the Double-You, Vancouver moves to 9-4-1 and 19 points, good enough for a (temporary) hold on third place in the Western Conference. Of course, the West's top 11 teams all have .500-plus win-loss records, compared to just seven teams in the East.
In defeat, Washington drops to 5-7-0 and eleventh in the somewhat slacker Eastern Conference.
