Nelson Leafs send Naka to Kelowna Chiefs
The Leafs have made a trade — offence for defence — with Matthew Naka heading to the Okanagan Division.
The 19-year-old forward who just started his third season with the Leafs will head to Kelowna Chiefs for defenseman Kyle Clayton and future considerations.
Coach Frank Maida says of the Naka trade, “we made a change.”
Clayton, an Abbottsford native weighs in at 200lbs and measures 6’4” tall.
“We’re getting size on the back end,” said Maida. “It’s the defence we’ve been looking for.”
The Leafs will face off against their former teammate Saturday when they take on the Chiefs as part of an Okanagan road trip.
