Port Moody comes up short
The Port Moody Quicksilver suffered a disappointing loss against the Williams Lake Storm in the championship finals of the North Shore Soccer Club Thanksgiving Tournament on the weekend.
The PoMo club held its own in the first half against the upper division team, but the Storm broke the logjam early in the second with a goal on lucky bounce. With five minutes left in the game, Williams Lake was able to capitalize on a defensive breakdown and pot a second marker to make it 2-0 and send the Quicksilver home with a silver medal.
On their way to the finals, Port Moody managed a decisive 2-0 win against NSGSC Delate, with goals coming from Vanessa Velo and Mia Ciolli, while Ellie Langr got the shutout in net.
The team went on to play CCB Blaze to a scoreless draw on Sunday to earn the spot in the final match.
