PHOTO: Suffering to the top
Revelstoke’s Rory Luxmoore is followed by Scott Legere race to the top of a snowy Idaho Peak during Saturday’s Kaslo Sufferfest summit race that covered 46 kilometres and 2,200 metres of elevation gain. The two runners finished tied for first in a time of 4:54:19.
As if that wasn’t enough, on Sunday Luxmoore went and finished second in the 50-kilometre trail run in a time of 4:56:45 – 51 seconds back of winner Jordan McTaggart (who didn’t race Saturday).
Other great performances from Revelstokians include Richard Hamilton, who won the 45-kilometre mountain bike race on Saturday and the 25-kilometre trail run on Sunday; Anne-Marie Gill and Sarah Newton, who finished first and second respectively in the women’s 50-kilometre run; and Brendan McIntosh, who came fourth in the 100-kilometre mountain bike race on Saturday.
Organizer Janis Neufeld was full of praise for Revelstoke's athletes, especially the number of kids that took part and did well.
