Another honour for Thompson
Big Mack is on the attack and looking for any advantage to devour the competition.
Mackenzie Thompson, the provincial champion in bantam boys’ 10-pin singles for Youth Bowling Canada from Duncan Lanes, is gearing up for the nationals in May in Vancouver.
As a tune-up, he entered a hi-lo doubles event at Splitsville Entertainment in Nanaimo.
On the heels of a 194 game in practice, Thompson combined with first-year bantam Carson Batty to win the silver medal with a four-game total of 191 pins over average.
“The four-game event was a breeze for Mack, as he is currently averaging six or seven games a day,’’ noted coach Bob Linde.
Owen Ketch and Wyatt Wratten also bowled well in the bantam division and just missed the podium. Aden Nettleton and Brady Wratten formed another tandem and had a strong competition.
The junior girls’ duo of Dawn Miller and Mikayla Edmunds ran away with the gold medal. The girls were never really in trouble, going 128 pins over average after the first game and finishing at +186.
