More than 4,400 fans take in championship final
It was the highest attendance yet for the B.C. AAA boys basketball championship game.
Four thousand, four hundred and forty-three fans took in the action on Saturday (March 19) night at the Langley Events Centre as the Walnut Grove Gators won their first senior boys basketball title with a 59-53 victory over the White Rock Christian Academy Warriors.
Final numbers for the five-day tournament have not yet been finalized.
And the number represents an increase for the championship game which has been held at the Langley Events Centre for the past three years.
In 2011, 4,014 fans watched the R.C. Palmer Griffins defeat the Vancouver College Fighting Irish 71-63.
And last year, 4,061 fans watched as the Terry Fox Ravens edged Walnut Grove 75-74.
