Gogolev the Royals MVP at team awards ceremony
Alex Gogolev is the Victoria Royals MVP for the 2012-13 season despite missing nearly 25 per cent of the games. Gogolev's regular season with Victoria was cut short due to an injury in early February but the 20-year-old’s impact was substantial.
The import from Moscow, Russia, took home the big honour at the team’s awards ceremony on Sunday.
Gogolev had 20 goals and 45 assists in 49 games prior to his injury. His last game was Feb. 5 and yet he did enough to help the Royals to a franchise-best 77 points and 35 wins.
Jordan Fransoo was named the team’s top defenceman and fellow defenceman Joe Hicketts was named rookie of the year. Also awarded was Logan Fisher as the hardest worker, Patrik Polivka the unsung hero, Tim Traber the most dedicated, and Brandon Magee as the fans’ choice, as voted by fans.
