Pacific Christian Pacers run to fourth at basketball provincials, AAA and A boys report
The Pacific Christian Pacers managed a fourth place finish a the B.C. Girls A Basketball Provincial Championship in Prince George last week.
The Pacers won its way through the opening rounds to the final four, fell in the semifinal, and then the third-place game to the Princeton 78-57, to slide to fourth.
Grade-11 point guard Kathryn Candell spurred the Pacers to opening round wins over Unity Christian (Chilliwack) and Mulgrave (West Vancouver), including a 39-point effort in the latter game.
Candell scored 21 points in the 81-53 semifinal loss to the eventual champion Immaculata Mustangs (Kelowna). She finished as the top scorer of the tournament with an average of 24.5 points per game and as a first team all-star.

The Glenlyon Norfolk Gryphons lost to Immaculata in the opening round of the boys A provincials 81-52. The Gryphons managed two wins and two losses, ending up 11th overall.
The Claremont Spartans and Belmont Bulldogs both lost in the opening round of the B.C. Boys AAA Basketball Championships in Langley on March 13.
The Bulldogs lost the first two games of the tournament but finished with two wins, 11th overall among the 20 participating teams.
The Spartans rallied with a 49-48 win over Caledonia in Game 2 but lost to Sardis 69-63 in Game 3. The Spartans ended with a 70-60 win over the Terry Fox Ravens to finish seventh. Walnut Grove won the AAA boys title over Whiterock Christian.
