Sissons named MVP as Rockets hand out annual awards

Captain Colton Sissons' value to the Kelowna Rockets was apparent Sunday as the 6-foot-1 centre was named winner of two individual honours at the club's annual awards banquet.

The North Vancouver native, who scored 28 goals and added 39 assists in 61 games, was named the Rockets most valuable player and top defensive forward for the 2012-13 season.

Other award winners were:

• Top defenceman–Damon Severson

• Top rookie and scholastic player—Rourke Chartier

• Most sportsmanlike—Zach Franko

• Most improved—Tyson Bailiie

• Unsung hero—Tyrell Goulbourne

• Top scorer—Myles Bell

• Humanitarian Award—Myles Bell and Carter Rigby

• Plus-minus—Dylen McKinlay
