KIJHL game summaries: two game six tilts set part of the stage

Two game six match-ups, in each conference of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League tonight, have set at least part of the stage moving forward in the playoffs.

The Golden Rockets won 4 -1 in game six of their series with the Fernie Ghostriders, and will face either Beaver Valley or Castlegar Rebels in the Kootenay conference final on Mar. 15.

The Rebels and Nitehawks series will be decided in game seven scheduled for Wednesday, Mar. 13 in Castlegar at 7:30 p.m.

Blake Roney, the Rockets' second highest point-getter in the regular season (23 goals and 34 assists in 50 games), had two goals while Bobby Kashuba and Carson George also adding markers of their own for Golden.

Tyler Gonzales got the lone Fernie goal.

In the other KIJHL game six tonight, the Kelowna Chiefs faced off against the Osoyoos Coyotes in the Okanagan/Shuswap Conference.

The Coyotes got a first period goal from Andrew Stack that stood as the only goal of the game through 40 minutes.

The Chiefs  countered in the third to pull even, on a goal off the stick of Nick Josephs from Jordan Salahor.

The score remained deadlocked 1 - 1 through regulation, needing overtime to settle things.

Austin Lee would eventually score the double-overtime game-winner to seal the series for the Coyotes, who will face the North Okanagan Knights in the Okanagan/Shuswap Conference final.
